Internships
Each year the HUEA sponsors the Internship Program. This program employs students who are Hammond residents presently accepted or enrolled in college. They will be employed by Hammond businesses, organizations and city departments.
The purpose of this program is threefold: youth acquire workplace skills and earning power, unemployed or new employable students are introduced to the regional workplaces and potential careers, and local businesses and organizations are aided with extra support staff learning their businesses.
It is an 8-week work schedule that runs from June and ends in July. All applicants must provide a proof of residency, copy of their driver’s license, and must fill out the online application by May 31, 2018. Interviews will be conducted from June 1st-7 th.
Newly graduating high school students – Must have a letter of recommendation emailed from their teacher, principal or guidance counselor and their acceptance letter to the college they will be attending in the Fall.
College students- Must have college transcripts (name, address, cumulative GPA, and credit hours included).
